Why custom furniture?

Why custom furniture?

Why do some people prefer to have furniture when there's already so much out there?  Making custom furniture is usually more expensive, takes longer, and you could run the risk of not always getting exactly what you expected.  So why go through all of that, and how to you navigate these risks?

Well, we find that custom furniture isn't for everyone.  Most people are happy with the run of the mill (excuse the pun!) furniture that covers their basic needs. But what if you've searched everywhere, online, in department stores, 2nd hand shops etc, and still haven't found what you're looking for.  Or you've found what you are looking but it's not available in the size you're looking for or the colour isn't quite right.  Or, it might be that you just can't the quality you are looking for, for example in bathroom vanities.  Most bathroom shops offer 'cheap chip' melamine or sprayed MDF which looks like plastic (because it is plastic) and has a very limited shelf life, we're talking 2-3 years at best.  We find that even the high end 'luxury' furniture stores have to compromise on quality and don't give the attention to detail that many furniture items need.  For example, if you're buying a chest of drawers, you're really going to be wanting good quality drawers runners, and not to have to fight with the drawers every time you open your drawers (which would be daily).

So that's where custom furniture comes in :)  To give you what you're looking for, the style, the size, the colour, the finish, and the quality that you're looking for.  And if that's important to you, then the wait and the little bit more that you'll pay for it, will be well worth the wait.
